Abraxas the Mastermind
There is always someone pulling the strings hidden from all eyes, someone who's moving important people like pawns on a chess board...
Once he was Hoshi's closest friend, travelling far and wide across the entire multiverse, fighting for justice and balance alongside her, but after the two of them settled here they have grown more and more distant from each other.
Now, with rumours spreading like wildfire that the banished demons from a few hundred years ago have returned, Hoshi has no choice but to face her old friend again and ask him :"How did we end up like this?" but all the beholder has to return with a wry grin is: "Are you going to ask for a hug or what?"
With this little story I wish you a happy new year and hope you like tentacles ;)
Once animations become relevant I'll turn those round shaped tentacles into straight one's so that we can place bones on them properly (like on a tail or something similar).
Updated 2024-03-04:
Animation update!
- tentacles are longer so he can actually reach something
- Added physics to tentacles
why did eye owo dis ?
@AltTab
Maybe because it's something else :P
@Blacky
it's sure that really different from what you do usually !
i can't imagine the amount of work it take to sculpt this one from an anthro body
also if i remember well beholder have only eyes tentacles but i saw your years before i don't remember their names
and his names remind me something oh god i've a blank >,,
@AltTab
You're absolutely right. A beholder has like ten eyes or so around his head but for animations sake I thought it's more interesting to give him various tentacles for...reasons...and there is a limit for triangles so I cant do eyes and tentacles simultaneously so I went with this hybrid design. Sculpting was fun^^
Abraxas is the name of the talking raven who is the best friend of the Little Witch. She's the main protagonist of the child's book "The Little Witch" from Otfried Preußler, written in 1957, so maybe you know the name from this one.
Gotta move my trivia section from the forum up here in the character description, I guess ^^
Elder Scrolls ?
Na Serwas!
Das Neue Jahr Beginnt gleich bombastisch schräg! :O
The thumbnail really scared me but this character is nice!
@THeGERio
Dungeons & Dragons
@Blacky you absolute mad lad! You continue to find new ways to make more and more exotic characters!
@snowleopard
@Vandred
@Static_snowflake
Thanks a lot, I guess ^^
So, let me tell you a little something:
My art teacher told me on his very first lesson: "I am about to teach you the most dangerous and terrifying thing in the world: I will teach you how to paint. Painting means putting your inside on canvas and show it to the world Art does not come from your mind and brain but from your very soul."
God how I loved this guy.
So, yes, Abraxas is an absolutely creepy and freaky being. I need someone as a main antagonist someday and he will do just fine.
The reason why he might look scary is not only because of the eyes but also because he has eight limbs, imitating the shape of a spider (well, nine if you count the one for the shaft in...).
And one last thing about finding new ways: I've been doing this for quite the period of time now and of course I love creating regular stuff but every now and then I'd like to show you what is possible with this software but not in order to show off but in order to encourage everyone to try that as well.
@MobiusScarf
Ahhh :D,
pff, showoff ;p
you keep managing to find new creative ways to approach characters. very impressive!
my only criticism would be that currently the tongue doesn't really work. I don't think it's something that can be fixed in the current state of FVNE but my personal preference would be to just hide it using an alpha layer.
awesome work man
@anon_hours
Thanks a ton! :D
Yes, the tongue is not made for such heavy offsets. I had a concept where I moved the shaft inside the mouth, replacing the tongue with it. It looked really good but I had second thoughts on character performance doing something like this and scraped the idea. I have to rework him anyway in terms of parts once we are able to animate and in this phase I'll play around with the tongue a bit more, maybe I find a cool solution for it like a custom tongue part or -like you said- just masking it
@Blacky
Stellar quote. This piece inspires me to keep trying to push the envelope, even if I'm banging rocks together in comparison to your skill.
