Satyr is a monster with ram horns, legs and a tail. He indulges in lust, sexual pleasure, is often a symbol of nymphomania or sexual immorality, and is also a roguish mythological image. In ancient Greek mythology, the half-human, half-animal Satyr was a symbol of creativity, music, poetry and sex, as well as a sign of panic and nightmares.
The Dorians called Satyr "Tityroi".
Satyr was an associate of Dionysus, he was also considered a half-human, half-animal and lesser deity in the forests and mountains. The Greek poet Hesiod wrote that Satyr was the product of the five daughters of King Phronius, who also bore the goddess Yamagawa and Curaeus. But other writers have suggested that Satyr was a descendant of Hermes and Ipsmus, or of Naiad or Silenus, the water fairy.
