Werefox

When the day sun flickers its last flame and the darkness smothers all that stands, only granted relief from the cool glow of the moon, dangerous creatures begin to stalk any who find themselves lost in the dark. Once dawn breaks to rid the evils of the night, those caught by the darkness and its pawns will show no traces aside from belongings they once kept.

One of these foul creatures is known as a Werefox. Although tall, the Werefox is different from a Werewolf in regards to its stature. Werefoxes are described as thin and lanky compared to a Werewolf. However, while Werefoxes posses exceptional strength, they are weaker than their canine counterpart and use their speed and intelligence to perform "hit-and-run" tactics.

Taking a Werefox down in combat is a challenging feat since most will avoid a frontal attack in favor of flanking. Thankfully, Werefoxes are not pack beasts and thus usually only have one in a given area of activity. Common extermination techniques involve culling a Werefox's food and forcing it to either starve to death or attack hunting parties while it is weak.

Mooncurse is a rare affliction which turns it's hosts into Werebeasts. The affliction is documented to only occur when the host turns to dark spirits to bid for power, or the host is attacked by a mooncursed, though the chances of affliction in this manner is next to none and completely neutralized by wolfsbane remedies.

There is unofficial reports of mooncursed regaining their humanity through varying means. Usual cases reports spouses or significant others giving mooncursed wolfsbane-based remedies in an attempt to "reverse" the affliction. Most cases end in the death of the spouse or the afflicted. However, a handful of cases report a regression of the affliction. Unfortunately, the regression usually leaves the afflicted in a state of behavior similar to a pet but regained it's relationships with friends and family.
We cannot confirm these reports as protocol states we must notify Mooncursed hunting teams of an afflicted.
