Growing up, Darren had an easy childhood. Sheltered life in the suburbs, plenty of other kids to play with, and a loving family. Unfortunately, by age 11, he had fallen ill with a disease that affected his throat. After a few days of worsening symptoms, he was rushed to the hospital where they found cancer in his larynx, and the best course of action was to remove it...

The age of 13 came around and Darren had never quite returned to his normal life. He couldn't talk to his friends anymore and his lack of a 'voice-box' forced him to go to a different school where he learned sign language. At some point in this new school, Darren had learned that music was an effective way to convey feelings and emotions, which he showed great interest in. Everyday, he would go to his public library to learn music theory in his free time. Even for his birthday, he was given a guitar and some lessons with a teacher. He picked up new concepts quickly and before anyone knew it, Darren was playing songs some hope to achieve in a year of learning.

Fast forward a few years and 20 year old Darren makes his salary in bars and the streets, performing shows for the crowd. He can never get a solid gig going however since most band managers want someone on guitar to sing. However, Darren did find a flyer of a band looking for a replacement member, a guitarist. Now Darren travels on the road playing with a group known as "Moxy Pythons" and even found his first love with the lead singer.
