Iyes
Previous versions
A derivative of @HippoThrombe character that I really like the design of.
Some fluff for interactions I'm setting up with him:
Iyes is a Nulvra, one of the Lowborn of the Lunvrayn Hiveworlds and a cadet of the Academy of Resonant Sciences. Born into the labor hives that maintain the great spire foundations, he was marked early for his aptitude with resonance engineering and structural harmonics. This allowed him to achieve what few Nulvra ever dream of, admission to the Academy on merit alone, a distinction that made him both respected and resented among his peers. Quiet, methodical, and precise, Iyes prefers machines to politics and equations to ceremony. Yet beneath his calm demeanor lies a mind constantly reaching upward, questioning why the hive’s harmony demands silence from those born beneath it. His time at the academy placed him among the Highborn, a world of polished speech and ritual where he was always seen as an outsider. None unsettled him more than Harmony, a Lunvith princess whose brilliance matched his own.
Their rivalry was immediate and consuming. Harmony challenged his every theorem; Iyes countered every one of her elegant assumptions. To him, she was infuriating, too sure of herself, too unbending. To her, he was intolerably blunt, unrefined, and impossible to ignore. What began as competition gradually turned to mutual respect, though neither would have admitted it aloud.
That respect solidified into something deeper after an incident with a visiting suitor. Iyes acted without hesitation, shielding Harmony and facing the intruder despite the social cost. The event left him disciplined by his superiors, but it also left Harmony looking at him differently. Since that day, the line between rivalry and affection has blurred beyond repair.
Though their connection must remain hidden, Iyes does not regret it. He believes Harmony represents what the hive could become, order without oppression, brilliance without hierarchy.
