Linked Expression States Between Steps
Right now, facial expressions and morph sliders seem to be stored independently per step. This means if I create an expression on Step 2 and want the same expression on Step 1 (or multiple steps), I have to manually recreate every slider value again.
I feel there should be like a "copy step" for the facial expressions.
This is so when I change a face on Step 2, but want it on step 1 (which was already created) I can just click something like "copy expression from 'Step 2' "
I would like to be able to copy and paste the state of all expressions on a character from one step to another.
If I understand correctly, what you want already exists.
If you Work on step 1 and then duplicate it with any of the given options, emotes will carry over, just like every other keyframe.
Alternatively, you can right click any step and initialize the step to either copy the missing properties or override the existing ones.
I hope that helps, if something is still not working, feel to reach out again.
@Blacky I was aware of those options.
I would like to be able to copy/paste just the expressions between steps, not all properties.
It is really common to adjust the expressions of characters later after blocking out the scene.
Here's a solution in the meantime. The easiest way of doing this is to copy and paste the keyframes of the expressions from the timeline. Use the filter in the timeline/keyframe editor and type in "expressions" to only see your facual expressions. Highlight or shift + click all you want, Ctrl + C, go to another step, and Ctrl + V on the default or other timeline of your choosing. Continue pasting on every step until you're done.
If you were only setting expressions on the default timeline and are having trouble only selecting the keyframes of the expressions you want (because you have multiple characters), create a new timeline. Left click a single time on the sliders for each expression you want and they'll be keyframed on your new timeline. Then do the copying and pasting.
@Ivee
Yes, I absolutely get that but it's working just like how vml described it.
Since copy-pasting works on keyframe basis, you can grab those key frames and copy them wherever you like.
I'm just pointing it out since it's highly unlikely that we will spend time on adding a feature that already exists and we rather spend time on adding new engines to the app.
Never say never but in terms of priority, this is definitely a rather low one.
