Larger contiguous maps
What I’d enjoy most about your editor is telling proper stories with a spicy twist. Unfortunately, that isn't quite so easy due to the limited map size; since most locations are spread across multiple maps, you’d need to switch maps to tell a continuous story—making a seamless narrative impossible. A single large map containing many locations would be better (though I realize that means longer loading times and higher memory requirements).
I would actually prefer smaller maps than what we have currently (but more of them).
You can tell a continuous story by creating an interaction with multiple scenes. Different scenes do not need to take place on the same map. Is there a reason this solution doesn't serve your needs?
Well, I'd like to tell complex stories with characters who actively move across the map from location to location, which is why I also posted another suggestion for a pre-made basic animation to get a smooth movement animation that you just have to place.
I don't see why that's necessary. Even actual animated films don't do that. They typically have a number of virtual sets that they switch out between cuts.
I feel like you're trying to bring open-world video game norms into someplace (visual novels) where it really doesn't make sense. This is closer to film/animation than it is to a typical video game. I don't see why I'd want to watch the characters move from one location to another in real time.
In general, we will add more environments over time and in the future, we plan on adding the option for users to create their own environments all to their liking to cover this.
