I am a 100% with you and we also already had the idea to implement e.g. a feature which auto renames the fill layer as soon as a mask gets selected for it or be able to move the layers faster in the outline with something other than "right click" and "move up" or "move down" but in terms of priority, those are all considered "luxury implementations" for now so we focus on getting more of the big features out.
Still, this will be relevant one day and we get to it.

This is basically about the coloring
I would like it if you could select layers & masks with CTRL + Mouse click and then remove them with DEL, for example!
otherwise you would always have to click on the fields individually to delete them!
That could simplify a lot of things ^^_
