Hiding cloud characters from search/tabs etc.
When uploading I'd like the option to hide a cloud character from the characters list, mostly for the sake of cutting down on clutter.
This could be implemented as just not pushing these characters to the main list but still including them in derivatives and when the uploader's tag is searched for, since the main idea is purely that I'd like the option to use characters in the cloud without cluttering the character list and search results.
Main use cases for this would be:
-Reducing clutter when creating a cloud interaction that uses an only slightly modified version of an existing character (minor tweaks, changes to genitals, gender etc. that don't warrant uploading a new version of the character)
-Characters that are close-to-default, overly generic or don't warrant appearing in the main character list for any reason, but that you want to use in cloud interactions (eg. someone wanting to upload an interaction using a slightly modified version of the fox template as a generic character)
-Uploading your own character with multiple derivatives, without those derivatives cluttering up the character list (eg. alternate gender or genitals, different color schemes etc.) (I could see this particular use warranting being it's own "variants" system in itself, however, as I've seen some users are already using the "previous versions" feature for organizing things such as gender variants)
I would like such a feature, as i too like to tweak other characters but don't feel like cluttering the search list.
Ability to unlist character edits from main search pages would be nice.
What you said, and maybe my alternative idea is separting such characters in their own category other than "derivatives". Like there is on FurAffinity every artist has a "scraps" folder that you can put stuff manually in there.
Definitely very solid suggestion(s) here. We discussed similar things internally so we'll turn our heads towards this entire cloud management subject eventually.
In terms of priority, our focus currently lies elsewhere though for now so I can't promise anything here.
I might as well lik you this early suggestion as well: Hide disliked characters in browser
@Blacky
While I think hiding stuff from your own feed ought to be something you can do, I don't personally think disliking/downvoting should be a personal feed curation tool because that'd separate it from being a qualitative assessment of the content and slant it more towards personal preference. It'd also potentially incentivize disliking stuff over liking it, since disliking would have extra functionality tied to it where there isn't any equivalent functionality for giving something a like(there's a filter option for liked content, but favorites serve an identical purpose).
Tagging, a community tag system similar to E621*, filter lists and etc. would all be stronger tools for feed curation than outright hiding disliked stuff and would be less potentially frustrating for creators.
(I'd probably personally put this highest on the priorities list for any curation feature purely because people don't tag their own stuff super well, and having a lot of applicable creations be missing from the tag you've searched is a special kind of frustrating by itself, without even getting into trying to filter things out* of searches lol)
(Messed up my markdown formatting: a community tag system is what I'd most prioritize as a curation feature if that wasn't obvious)
Yes, so an official tag system was suggested here as well and we discussed on how to implement that internally a few times already.
You are absolutely right, the current tag system is chaos and chances are, you will never find a character you are searching for.
So we want to get to that eventually.
